Somerset County Cricket Club will be holding an informal evening to talk about ‘All things Somerset Cricket’ at Bath Cricket Club on Thursday 21st March at 7.30pm.

The evening will be hosted by Richard Brice who is one of the three members representative on the SCCC board of directors and has previously previously been chairman of the club.

Richard will be joined for the evening by former Somerset favourite Colin Dredge and Jon Bendle from the Somerset Cricket Foundation.

Colin Dredge- nicknamed the Demon of Frome, will need little introduction to followers of Somerset as he was a key part of the team that won five trophies in as many seasons during the Glory Years.

He is a Somerset thoroughbred and made his first class debut at Bath against Worcestershire in 1976 and the first wicket he claimed was that of Glenn Turner who was captain of New Zealand at the time. In the same innings he caught Imran Khan and had Norman Gifford caught by Graham Burgess off his bowling.

Between 1976 and 1988 the Demon of Frome played in 194 first class matches in which he claimed 443 wickets at an average of 30.10 and 209 List A matches in which he took 253 wickets at 25.42.

Jon Bendle is the Managing Director at Somerset Cricket Foundation (SCF) which is responsible for all aspects of the recreational game at all levels, which includes working with dementia groups, walking cricket for the elderly and a wide range of children’s activities.

SCCC look forward to welcoming as many members and supporters to the evening at Bath Cricket Club, North Parade Bridge Road, Bath, BA2 4EX on 21st March.
