Bath Axes U13 Cup run ends
4 July 2021
Taunton St Andrew’s – 111/9
Bath Axes – 69ao

The Axes run in the National Knockout Cup came to an abrupt end after a 42 runs loss to TSA. Having won the toss, skipper Max H elected to bowl first, a decision that looked justified at the end of the 20 overs. T. Rew of TSA batted beautifully and was the only bat all day to retire, the next highest score from one of his team mates was 12. This was mainly down to the outstanding Axes skipper (Max H) who bowled his 4 overs for just 9 runs. He was well backed up by the ever reliable Jamie G (1/18) who bowled his 4 overs well with the new ball. The fielding throughout the innings was outstanding which was highlighted by a superb Jacob F runout.
In reply the Axes innings never really got going, mainly down to the terrific spin bowling of J. Barclay (3/6) who blew our top order out of the water. Fred S (12) and all rounder Jamie G (14) were the only bats to get in to double figures. Luke W was very unlucky to get runout and looked good before his untimely dismissal.
Many thanks to Nicky from Somerset CC and the two umpires; Jason and Bernard. Also, thanks to the Bath CC bar staff, Darren for getting the game on and Andrew L for the pictures.
Good luck to TSA in the next round.
