New headline sponsor announced

22 May 2020

Dear Members, Parents and friends,

As always in this period I hope that you, your families, and friends have managed to remain safe and well. It is exciting to see that we have been able to open our nets albeit under some very specific conditions and instructions to keep you and our team at Bath Cricket Club safe. I am happy that we took the time to consider this fully and open these facilities in the right manner. I hope you can manage to enjoy this facility while we wait for further guidance from the ECB and the government on when we might see cricket return to the fields of North Parade and The Brownsword.

If and when you do visit North Parade you will see that there are a number of advertising boards which have gone up and that our covers are now on and being used to start preparing the square and training facilities when we need them. It will be clear to you that we have a new headline sponsor. As we move forward as a club sponsorship and ‘partnerships’ with our sponsors are becoming more and more important to future proof the status and ambitions of Bath Cricket Club. Specifically, that we can continue to deliver all our community initiatives and projects and that we can plan to provide world class facilities to our members on and off the field.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce to you our new headline sponsor McKenzie & Co Financial Consultants. McKenzie and Co are based in Bath and are specialists in financial planning, serving individuals, families, and businesses in the Bath area and around the UK. From the first meeting we had with Ed McKenzie (Managing Director) it was clear we shared very similar values and objectives. Ed knows the city of Bath incredibly well having gone to school at Monkton Combe and Beechen Cliff, he is a keen rugby and cricket fan having played for Bath Mini’s and Walcott Rugby Club as well as representing Bath Cricket club as a junior. Ed has existing relationships with our General Manager Andy Owen and our President David Hilton so has a great inside track on what we want to achieve.

McKenzie and Co are committed to supporting our vision to deliver and grow cricket in the community, local schools, and neighboring clubs. Not surprisingly with 4 daughters as well as a son Ed has a personal interest in the growth and sustainability of women’s cricket and sport in general. Part of our multi-faceted partnership will include the continuation with their support of the regional youth club competition now “The McKenzie Cup” and the South West Women’s League. There was nothing more important to McKenzie and Co when deciding to partner with Bath Cricket Club than our appetite to support young people who may have less opportunity to participate in sports and who may have specific learning or development needs.

Due to current circumstances there are aspects of our partnership with McKenzie & Co which have been impossible to realise currently. I want to thank McKenzie & Co and Ed for their unwavering support and patience. I am confident that when we can return to some normality and with our shared vision, we will bring real value to each other over the next three years and hopefully even further into the future. We hope to introduce Ed and the McKenzie team to you our members more formally when we can and I know you will make them feel very welcome at Bath Cricket club when they start to use our facilities both socially and professionally. If you would like to learn more about McKenzie and Co, you can visit their website www.mckenzieandco.co.uk or their Facebook page.

Finally, from the whole team at Bath Cricket Club have a great bank holiday weekend and stay safe.

Yours sincerely

Matt Hankins

Chairman
