Bath CC 2nd XI v Bristol Pakistanis CC 1st XI

A remarkable batting performance from Alex Haleem set Bath 2nd XI on their way to a 127 run win over Bristol Pakistanis 1st XI at North Parade on Saturday.

After being asked to bat first, Bath made a steady start as openers Alex Haleem and Jack Goodwin took the home side up 78-1 when Goodwin was bowled for 30. Ben Harper (9) soon followed, but then Kester Moseley and Haleem put on 139 for the third wicket which included Haleem registering his century before Moseley was run out for a run-a-ball 60. Sam Preece (33*) and Haleem continued the momentum and when both batters took the home side through to 315-3 from their 50 overs, Haleem had amassed an unbeaten 176, which included 30 boundaries.

Bristol Pakistanis reply also got off to a positive start before Saqib Imran (24) was dismissed. Fellow opener, Raja Arbaz Hussain and Soban Irfan then took the score up to 98-2 when left arm spinner, Jacob Lewis trapped Irfan (17) in front. The away side then struggled against the mix of seam and spin, and when Hussain went for 45, it was only Rahul Deshmukh (37) who made a significant contribution, as the Bristol Pakistanis were bowled out for just 188 in the 39th over, to leave Bath winning by 127 runs. Pick of the Bath bowlers were Jacob Lewis (4-39), Alex Burkhart (3-7), and Kester Moseley (1-19). Bath 2nd XI remain third in the league.
