bath cricket club in the community
In 2018 we began the journey towards a greater involvement in the local community and use the of cricket as a conduit to promote healthy and active lifestyles, support local primary and secondary schools education and address the growing cases of mental health issues in the young and old alike.
Bringing sport and support to where it’s needed most, we’re passionate about making cricket accessible to everyone. From our local schools programme and walking cricket sessions to inclusive opportunities for all ages and abilities, we use the power of sport to inspire, connect, and create lasting impact.
‘inspire programme’
The Inspire Programme has been built on the core principles that whether in a local primary or secondary school, or in later life, Bath CC want to inspire everyone in the City to discover a love of cricket so that playing the game and belonging to a club is a lifelong passion.
school programme
The successful pilot, which has been running for the last six months with Widcombe Junior School, Oldfield Park Junior School and Combe Down Primary School has seen Bath CC provide in curriculum time cricket, and/or lunch clubs and/or after school clubs.
Across the three schools, Bath CC has provided over 300 hours of cricket coaching with 700 children in Key Stages 1 & 2. In Term three, the club also provided a whole term of girls cricket at Combe Down Primary for those in Years 2-6.
walking cricket
The programme, which launched in 2024 with just two or three participants, has grown steadily, with fifteen to twenty players now regularly attending sessions.
Walking Cricket offers a slower-paced, social version of the game, designed for those aged 55+ or anyone looking for a more accessible way to stay active. Sessions provide a relaxed and welcoming environment, focused on light activity, social connection, and enjoyment of the game with tea and biscuits in the clubhouse afterwards a regular highlight.
mentoring programme
This programme focuses on mentoring within local schools, providing guidance, support, and positive role models for young people who need it most.
Our mentoring sessions see us working directly with pupils in schools, building trust and offering consistent support both in and out of the classroom. Using our training staff as a tool to engage, we help develop confidence, behaviour, and social skills, while creating a safe space for young people to talk, grow, and feel supported.
disability cricket
Our Disability Cricket programme provides inclusive opportunities for young people and adults of all abilities to get involved in the game in a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment.
Through our Super 1s sessions and wider disability cricket offer, we focus on building confidence, developing skills, and ensuring everyone can take part at their own pace. Sessions are structured yet flexible, making cricket accessible regardless of experience or ability.
