Specialist cricket coaching sessions becomes regular fixture at Bath CC’s state of the art Cricket Centre....

Bath CC has launched a new Performance Squad, a group of young cricketers aged between 12-16 that have been identified to have the potential to become good club cricketers and develop the skills and experience needed to represent the club’s 1st and 2nd XI sides.
The squad, comprising of 16 young cricketers, will receive additional training from Bath’s highly experienced youth development coaches, which includes Community & Junior Cricket Manager, Mark Watts, 1St XI Captain & Youth Coach, Harry Ellison and Community Cricket Coach, Josh Norgrove.
This new club initiative will take place at the clubs state of the art cricket centre, which is the most advanced in BANES, with the same Core Max playing surface as used at Lords and the ECB Academy at Loughborough University, and the latest iPad operated bowling machines – including a TrueMan (pace bowling) and Merlyn (spin bowling). As the 1st XI will be taking part in a new white ball competition in 2026, the indoor centre will shortly be fitted with a black sight screen which will also allow the performance group to experience an introduction to white ball cricket, which for many, will be a new opportunity.
Rob Maggs, Director of Cricket at Bath CC said:
“This is one of the few occasions in the clubs history that we have been in the fortunate position of having so many talented young cricketers that this was the perfect opportunity to launch a new youth performance group. We know that this approach has proved successful in the past, as the last group produced a number of 1st XI cricketers, many of which are still representing the club at the highest level.
This group will be provided with extra winter training, which will be focused not only on developing bowling and batting skills, but also providing an emphasis on improving fielding and building fitness and strength through dedicated S&C support. The group will also benefit from coaching from a highly experienced team which includes our 1st XI Captain, our Community Cricket Coach, and our Community & Junior Cricket Manager.”
