Bath CC 1st XI v Dumbleton CC 1st XI
Bath CC 1st XI v Dumbleton CC 1st XI
Bath’s 1st XI travelled to Worcestershire to play Dumbleton CC’s 1st XI on Saturday, and after losing the toss Bath were asked to bat first.
The Bath innings stuttered from the start, as openers Jack Scrivens (7) and Harry Dixon (4) departed inside three overs. Number three, Alex Haleem (8) soon joined them both in the pavilion to leave the away side 41-3 in the tenth over with some rebuilding to do. Skipper Harry Ellison had just joined Sam Young, and both these batters moved the score on as they passed a 50 partnership, but as they added a few more runs, Young went for 35, and then Max O’Farrell (0) was a bowled a few balls later without scoring. When Ellison (47) also went just shy of a half century only Spencer Gammon (26) showed any resistance as wickets fell around him as Bath were bowled out for just 155 in 37 overs. Pick of the Dumbleton bowlers was Ollie Horne (4-43).
Dumbleton’s reply saw Lewis Rollinson (8) trapped in front early by George Axtell, and then Axtell (2-30) also removed fellow opener Dan Holland, caught behind for 24. But with the home side 48-2 and just over 100 runs required, one partnership would take Dumbleton to victory, and this proved the case as Thomas Kelly (65*) and Ewan Gegg (44) added 94 runs, and although Gegg was snapped up by Harry Allen (1-25), Dumbleton coasted to victory in the 27th over of their innings to win by 7 wickets. After Potterne CC beat Bridgwater CC, Bath are now sitting bottom of Premier One with the midpoint of the season approaching.
