Bath 2nd XI made short work of picking up a home nine wicket win against Downend 2nd XI on Saturday.
After winning the toss and electing to field first, Bath’s opening bowlers, left arm spinner Jacob Lewis (4-12) and seamer Max Dangerfield (2-20) tore through Downend’s top order, as the away side slipped to 35-6. A run out and then a combination of the seam of Alex Burkhart (1-10) and off spin of Louis Brown (2-8) wrapped up the Downend innings as the away side were bowled out for just 57 in the 24th over of their innings.
Bath’s reply started positively and victory never looked in doubt as Jack Goodwin (29) and Charlie Brain (24*) added 48 for the first wicket, before the home side crossed the line inside 10 overs to win by nine wickets. Bath 2nd XI remain in second place in the league after this victory.
