Bath CC 2nd XI v Bedminster CC 2nd XI

Bath’s 2nd XI travelled to Bristol on Saturday to face Bedminster’s 2nd XI.

After being asked to bat first, Bath lost Charlie Brain (5) early before Alex Haleem and Jack Goodwin added 64 for the second wicket before Haleem went for 34. Goodwin and Kester Moseley continued the steady momentum, adding a further 79 for the third wicket before Moseley went for 35. When Goodwin followed soon after for 63, Bath were in a good position, on 181-4 with 14 overs to go. However, the home side lost a succession of quick wickets and disappointingly ended their innings on an under par 226 all out, with still two overs to be bowled.

The Bedminster reply got off to a stuttering start as they lost both openers inside the first seven overs to leave them 19-2. The match looked nicely in the balance, but then Jack Henderson and skipper George Davey (38) added 110 for the third wicket and then Henderson continued to bat positively with Bailey Peacock (22) before falling for a match winning 98, with the home team on 193-5 in the 42nd over. It was then left to Lewis Shean (25*) and Caleb Alexander (18*) to knock off the winning runs for Bedminster to win by 4 wickets.
