Bath CC 2nd XI v Bristol West Indian Phoenix CC 1st XI
Bath 2nd XI travelled to The Rose Green Centre to face Bristol West Indian Phoenix CC 1st XI on Saturday.
After losing the toss and being asked to field, Bath struggled to take an early wicket as openers Vishal Mamgai (34) and Jack Baber (46) put on 68 for the first wicket before seamer, Campbell McKegg (4-50) removed both batters to leave the home side 98-2, which soon became 105-3. But the home side’s skipper, Ashur Morrison (68) batted solidly with James Pearson (25) and Dylan Young (43) to take Bristol West Indian Phoenix up to 253-7 at the close of their 50 overs.
Bath’s reply started badly as they slipped to 31-2 and by the halfway point this had become 108-5 as Kester Mosely (37) was run out and Bill Simmons (5) was stumped, leaving the away side with a lot of work to do. But an excellent half century from skipper, Charlie Rustell (50) with contributions from Henry Allen (37), Rhys Baker (22) and Tim Scott (22) took Bath very close to the win as they finished their innings 248-9, an agonising five runs short of Bristol West Indian Phoenix’s total.
