Bath CC 2nd XI v Bristol West Indian Phoenix CC 1st XI

Bath 2nd XI were on the wrong end of a heavy loss on Saturday when they faced Bristol West Indian Phoenix 1st XI at North Parade.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Bristol West Indian batters got off to a solid start putting on 43 for the first wicket, before Vishal Mamgai (12) was out. Muntasir Nayeem (43) and Rushabh (16) then batted well together but when these batters were out further wickets continued to fall, and at 151-6, Bath looked in the driving seat. But, the direction of this match was then turned on its head at Neiland Cadogan smashed an undefeated 123 from just 70 balls and was ably supported by Otis Lemon (45*) as these two batters accelerated the Bristol West Indian score up to 336-6 from their 50 overs. Pick of the Bath bowlers was Alex Burkhart (3-20) and Charlie Rustell (2-33).

Bath’s reply got off to a solid start as openers Charlie Brain (32) and Alex Haleem (56) laid down a great platform with their partnership of 84 in just 16 overs. But when these two batters were out, Bath struggled to keep up with the run rate as they continued to lose regular wickets, and when opening bowler, Neiland Cadogan (4-35) returned to blow away the middle and lower order, Bath were bundled out for 216 in the 42ndover of their innings to lose by 120 runs. Bath are now third in the league.
