Bath CC 2nd XI v Keynsham CC 1st XI
Bath 2nd XI travelled to Keynsham on Saturday to face their 1st XI. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, openers Alex Haleem (27) and Charlie Brain (33) put on 68 for the first wicket but then both openers were removed in quick succession. Sam Price (40) and Kester Moseley (32) then added 67 for the third wicket before Moseley was bowled by Jack Stone. Price then went soon after, caught sweeping. At 148-4, Bath’s batters still had work to do to get up to a competitive total, and stand in skipper, Hamish Bell (36) and Harry Allen (25) took Bath passed 200 before a succession of wickets fell as the away side finished on 236-9 from their 50 overs.
Keynsham’s reply stuttered as Luke Jongwe (1) went with just four on the board. This brought James Burston to the wicket to join, brother Will Burston. These two added 75 for the second wicket when Will Burston (48) was trapped in front by spinner, Jacob Lewis. Tom Bancroft then joined James Burston and these two built a match winning partnership of 94, to take the home side up to 173-3 when Bancroft went for 37. Burston, with an undefeated 86, then combined well with the middle and lower order batters to take his side over the line with five overs still to be bowled, and five wickets in hand. Despite this five wicket loss, Bath are still third in the WEPL Bristol & North Somerset league.
