Bath CC 3rd XI v Bristol CC 3rd XI
Bath’s 3rd XI kept up the pressure on the top two teams in the league after a convincing seven wicket win over Bristol CC 3rd XI on Saturday.
After Bristol won the toss and elected to bat first, the home side lost Will Clayton-Jones (18) first to a run out, and then a number of Bristol’s batter passed double figures, but nobody went on to post a significant score, and as wickets continued to tumble, Bristol were eventually bowled out for 193 in the penultimate over. Pick of the Bath bowlers were Max Woodman (3-20) and Jack Goodwin (2-37).
Despite losing opener, Jack Goodwin (2) early, Bath’s Will Poulton and Ben Harper combined well before Poulton went for 23. Harper continued to bat positively, first with Samuel Preece (37) and then with John Bean, who posted an undefeated 46 from just 27 balls as Harper also finished undefeated on 75, as the away team coasted to a seven wicket victory in the 28th over.
