Bath CC 2nd XI v Knowle CC 1st XI
Bath CC 2nd XI v Knowle CC 1st XI
Bath 2nd XI travelled to Bristol on Saturday to face Knowle 1st XI.
After losing the toss and being asked to field first, Bath bowled tidily at the start of the Knowle innings as openers Oliver Haynes and Mark Coombes compiled a steady 50 run partnership before left arm spinner, Jacob Lewis (2-25) picked up the wickets of both Haynes (15) and Coombes (39) as seamer Alex Burkhart (3-46) also bowled Jai Kumar for a duck. The home side had slipped to 59-3 with only adding one to their score. However, Joe Brimble anchored the home sides innings, scoring a steady 71, as wickets continued to fall around him with the combination of seam and Harry Allen’s off spin (3-29) proving highly effective as Knowle eventually finished on an under par 189-9 from their 50 overs.
Bath’s reply started well with openers Sam Price and Charlie Brain putting together a partnership of 61 before Price (24) was bowled. Although Ben Harper (10) soon followed, Brain remained resolute at the top of the innings, adding 73 with Moseley (26) to take Bath’s score up to 159-3. Although Brain shortly followed for an excellent 95, Bath got over the line in the 35th over to win by five wickets. Bath’s 2nd XI remain in second place in the league after this win.
