Bath CC 3rd XI v Keynsham CC 2nd XI

Bath 3rd XI made it two away wins out of two, after beating Keynsham 2nd XI by 127 runs on Saturday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first openers, Tanay Rathod and Jack Goodwin put on a fine opening stand of 61 before Rathod went for 27. This then brought the inform Will Poulton to the crease, promoted to the 3rd XI after scoring an excellent 83 for the 4th XI last week. Poulton and Goodwin almost added another 100 runs for the second wicket before Goodwin was trapped in front for 71. Sam Simmons (10) soon followed and when Poulton also went for 63, this brought skipper Tim Scott to the crease to join Dan Hope. Scott smashed 36 off just 11 balls including four sixes to take his side up to a very competitive 242-4 from their 40 overs.

Keynsham’s reply was put under intense pressure from the start as Bath’s opening bowlers, Rob Patch (3-27) and Tim Scott (2-4) ripped through the home sides top order to leave them 23-4. This soon became 73-7 because of some excellent first change bowling from Max Dangerfield (2-16) and as the support bowlers all snapped up a wicket each, Keynsham were bundled out for just 115 to lose by 127 runs. Bath 2nd XI are now firmly in a mid-table position in the Bristol & District First Division.
