Bath CC 3rd XI v Timsbury CC 1st XI
Bath’s 3rd XI lost their second match in a row on Saturday as they lost by three wickets against Timsbury’s 1st XI, which pushed them off the top of B&D Division One.
After Bath won the toss and chose to bat first, they slipped to 18-3 as they lost both young openers early, and Tim Scott for a duck. But then Ben Harper (48) and Josh Norgrove (37) batted positively to put on 54 for the fourth wicket, and then stand in skipper, Bill Simmons strode to the wicket to continue where Norgrove left off, by posting an excellent run-a-ball 57 before he was stumped, leaving Bath 180-6. A run-a-ball 38 from Richard Pandya then helped Bath to post 239 all out from their 40 overs.
Timsbury’s reply took the same form as Bath’s innings as they slipped to 18-2, but solid contributions from Lewis Redwood (34), Paul Cracknell (39), and Jesse Bishop (34) took Timsbury up to 183-6. Jonathan Strand (32) and Gary Pearcy (22*) ensured that the away side passed Bath’s total off the last ball of the innings, but three dropped catches and 43 wides cost the home side dear.
