Bath CC 4th XI v Dyrham & Hinton CC 1st XI

Bath CC 4th XI faced Dyrham & Hinton CC 1st XI at the Brownsword Ground on Saturday.

After winning the toss and electing to field, the Dyrham & Hinton openers, Dominic Ferguson (54) and Robert Watkins (20) compiled an opening stand of 78 before Watkins was caught behind. Ferguson and Lucas Pearce (7) soon followed, with the latter falling to a superb catch by James Miles. George Lewis (23) and Richard Greenwood (36*) then helped take the away side up to a competitive 162-4 from their 40 overs. Pick of the Bath bowlers was Alan Alex (2-30).

Bath’s reply stalled as Louis Russell (7) was caught behind early on, but then Thiaan Aspeling (21) and Alan Alex (31) took the home sides score past 50 before Aspeling was stumped. Bath then slipped to 68-5 as Alex became Dave Taylor’s (4-14) fourth victim. Some solid batting by George Wylie (41) and Yash Gaur (17) then added 44. At 112-6 Bath were still in with a shout, but despite some lusty blows from James Miles (14*) down the order, the home side eventually fell short by 13 runs as they finished their innings on 149-9. Bath’s 4th XI remain seventh in the league.
