Bath CC 3rd XI v Hanham CC 1st XI
Bath 3rd XI continued their away form by beating Hanham’s 1st XI on Saturday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Bath openers swiftly took the score up to 44 before Sam Simmons went for a run a ball 32, which included seven boundaries. Ben Harper (1) soon followed, but Jack Goodwin (49) and Freddie Stappard (37) then took Bath’s score past 100 before Stappard and Goodwin went in quick succession to leave the away side 131-4. Skipper Tim Scott (39) once again delivered in the middle of the innings, and with contributions from the lower order, Bath got up to 230 when they were bowled out with one ball to go in their 40 overs.
Despite making a sold start to their innings with an opening stand of 32, the introduction of Max Dangerfield (2-17) and Luke Welsh (1-13) to the attack swiftly removed the top order to leave the home side 46-3. From this point forward Hanham never looked like they wanted to win the match and as Bath continued to pick up wickets, a succession of home batters played time to only post 137-7 in their 40 overs to leave Bath easily winning by 91 runs. Bath are in joint third place in the league, just three points behind second placed, Lansdown CC 2nd XI.
