Bath CC 4th XI v Knowle CC 3rd XI

Bath CC 4th XI travelled to Keynsham’s Fry’s Club on Saturday to face Knowle’s 3rd XI.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bath lost Louis Russell (18) and Thiaan Aspeling (0) early but then Dave Pippett and Jack Pippett added 50 for the third wicket before Dave Pippett was stumped for 19. Jack Pippett then went for a run-a-ball 43 to leave the away side 94-4. Contributions from Allan Alex (30) and Veera Sasidharan (22) got Bath up to a respectable 168-8 from their 40 overs.

Knowle’s reply stuttered from the start, as the home side lost opener Frank Roberts for a duck. Jocob Lambert (10) soon followed to leave Knowle 26-2. Opener Joe White then held firm as he continued to lose batters around him off the excellent leg spin of Allan Alex (2-38), before White was picked up by Thiaan Aspeling for 45. With Knowle 102-4 the match was in the balance, and when the home team slipped to 117-7 Bath felt in with a good chance. But Fahim Ahmed (29*) and Robert Sims (12*) took the home team to a two wicket win in the 37th over. With other results in the league going Bath’s way, the 4th XI are now sixth in the league.
