Bath CC 4th XI v Lodway CC 2nd XI
Bath CC 4th XI v Lodway CC 2nd XI
The Bath CC 4th XI played hosts to Lodway CC’s 2nd XI on Saturday at the Brownsword Ground.
After Lodway won the toss and elected to bat first, the away side got off to a steady start, but when the leg spin of Alan Alex (2-23) was introduced to the attack, Bath snapped up two quick wickets as both openers departed to leave Lodway on 45-2. A partnership of 45 between Imran Hasan (23) and George Harris followed, and as Harris passed his half century, contributions from the middle order kept up the momentum before Harris was bowled by young leg spinner, Darragh Russell on his debut (2-12) for 56 as the away side finished on 223-7 from their 40 overs.
Unfortunately, Bath quickly found themselves 16-2 in reply, and although Louis Russell (21) and skipper Dave Pippett (42) briefly threatened to build bigger scores to give the home side a chance, wickets continued to fall in regular intervals, and Bath were eventually bowled out for 122 in the 34th over. Bath’s 4th XI face top of the table, Bristol New Eleven next week with Bath fighting to stay up, and the New Eleven pushing to win the league and gain promotion.
