Bath CC 1st XI v Bridgwater CC 1st XI
Bath’s 1st XI had a tough away outing on Saturday as they lost to Bridgwater CC 1st XI by eight wickets.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bath lost both openers early, with Jack Scrivens (4) and Ben Wells (11) both caught behind off the bowling of Cameron Harding to leave the away side 23-2. Bath’s top order then really fired through Harry Dixon (43), Sam Young (95), Ben Church (77) and skipper, Harry Ellison (66) to take Bath’s total up to 346-7 from their 50 overs.
Bridgwater’s reply then got off to the worst possible start as James Regan was bowled by Spencer Gammon for a duck in the first over. This then brought Joseph Eckland to the crease to join Jake Lintott, who has been representing Kent in the T20 Blast this season. These two batters then started what was one of the most remarkable and destructive partnerships in Prem One this season, as they amounted a huge match winning stand of 328 for the second wicket, which took the home side over the line in just 38 overs. Eckland fell just before the end for 151 from 109 balls, and Lintott finished unbeaten on 167 from just 112 balls with 10 sixes. Bridgwater are now top of the league as Bath are in the drop zone.
