Bath CC 2nd XI v Frenchay CC 1st XI

Bath 2nd XI continued their unbeaten run on Saturday after gaining promotion to WEPL last year.

Facing Frenchay 1st XI at North Parade the home side was asked to bat first, and lost Charlie Brain (9) and Kester Moseley (1) both out to Rishabh Singh (3-34). At 27-2 Bath looked like needed to consolidate and although they lost Dollin Jansen for a positive 36, the home sides middle order really fired with skipper, Charlie Rustell hitting 62, and Henry Allen finishing undefeated on 66 to take Bath up to 200 when rain arrived at 44 overs.

Due to further rain, Frenchay were set a revised target of 239 from 43 overs, but lost opener Mike Donaldson early (12) bowled by off spinner Harry Allen. Skipper, Tyrone Isitt (21) and Steffan Davies (61) briefly threatened to take the match away from Bath, but when Davies was run out by Hamish Bell, Frenchay had slipped to 178-8 with only eight overs left to score the 61 runs need to win. Eventually Frenchay were bowled out for 215, 23 runs short of a win. Pick of the Bath bowlers were Sam Barnes (2-30), Harry Allen (3-50) and Ross Newman (2-24). Bath remain top of the league.
