Bath CC 3rd XI v Lansdown CC 2nd XI

Bath 3rd XI played hosts to Lansdown CC 2nd XI on Saturday in the First Division of the Bristol & District League.

After winning the toss and asking Lansdown to bat first, the away side got off to a very good start, as openers Sam Avery (26) and Tejas Bante (58) put on 84 for the first wicket. Dan Veal (59) and Harry Veal (20) then continued this momentum to take the score up to 173-3 when Harry Veal departed. Dan Veal continued to bat well with the middle order and was eventually the last man out as Lansdown finished on 248-6 from their rain affected 36 overs.

Bath’s reply started badly as Sam Simmons (1) was bowled and Ben Harper was trapped in front by Harry Veal to leave the home side in trouble on 12-2. Some good bowling from Lansdown kept the pressure on Bath, and wickets continued to tumble to leave the home side 79-5 before skipper Tim Scott (36) and Joe Prescott (42) forged a recovery. However, when Prescott and Scott went chasing quick runs, Bath’s fight was up as they finished on 176 all out, 72 runs short of a win.
