Bath CC 2nd XI v Frenchay CC 1st XI

Bath 2nd XI got back to winning ways on Saturday against Frenchay CC 1st XI and now stand second in the league.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bath made a solid start with Harry Allen and Sam Price adding 57 for the first wicket, before Price (20) was bowled. Ben Harper (0) and Kester Moseley (7) soon followed, both bowled by Chare Smith (2-24). Skipper, Charlie Rustell then joined Allen at the crease. They added 34 before Rustell went for 27, and Allen soon followed for a patient 44. At 126-5 in the 35th over, Bath needed to ensure that they batted out the innings and through Hamish Bell (24) and Alex Burkhart (19*) they made sure they posted a defendable total, finally reaching 174-9 in their allotted 50 overs.

Frenchay’s reply got off to a really positive start with openers Shalinda Arachchige and Madushan Ravichandrakumar adding 54 for the first wicket before Ravichandrakumar went for a run-a-ball 37. Then a run out of number three, Akshat Krishna (1) sparked a collapse as Frenchay slipped from 85-2 to 130-6 as the home batters struggled against spinners Jacob Lewis (2-46) and Harry Allen (5-31). The home sides tail didn’t wag and they were bowled out for 146 in the 35th over, to lose to Bath by 28 runs.
