Bath CC 4th XI v Stapleton CC 2nd XI
Bath CC 4th XI travelled to Bristol to face Stapleton CC 2nd XI on Saturday.
After being asked to bat first, Bath made a bright start through Tanoy Rathod (21) and Thiaan Aspeling (34) and number three, Alex Haywood (22) played some classy drives as he continued to help build what looked like a score heading towards 200. However, as rain briefly fell and an early tea was taken, Bath’s batters returned to the crease and were undone by spin from both ends as a collapse ensued with five wickets falling for just 24 runs as Bath collapsed from 125-5 to 149 all out. Pick of the Stapleton bowlers was leg spinner, Will Millard who finished with 5-21.
Stapleton’s reply got off to a good start with Chris Ledbury (25) and Aurengzed Mohammed (47) putting on 53 for the first wicket. Bath bowled well and created regular chances but missed two run outs and as three catches went down, the match unfortunately turned from very tight encounter into a seven wicket win for the home side with almost four overs still to be bowled. Pick of the Bath bowlers were Tanoy Rathod, Alex Moss, Alex Heywood, and Veera Sasidharan.
