Bath CC 4th XI v Knowle CC 3rd XI
Bath 4th XI played hosts to Knowle CC 3rd XI at the Brownsword Ground on Saturday.
After winning the toss and electing to field, Bath made two early breakthroughs through the bowling of James Miles (4-22). Opener, Peter Solomon (42) stayed firm as wickets continued to fall around him, but when Solomon went to leave the away side 65-5, there was a potential collapse on the cards. However, Sheraz Dar, hitting 63 from 74 balls and Abdul Bangash (20) helped Knowle post a respectable 159 all out from their 40 overs. In addition to Miles’ four wicket haul, Mathan Balasubramaniyan bowled well (3-34).
Bath’s reply got off to a fine start, with openers Tanay Rathod (28) and Dave Pippett (63) putting on 80 for the first wicket. After Rathod departed Bath lost two more wickets in quick succession, but when Pippett was the fourth wicket to fall with the score 146 the match was almost won. Shortly after Mathan Balasubramaniyan (22*) hit the winning runs to cap off an excellent six wicket victory in Bath’s 31st over.
