Bath 4th XI vs Chilcompton match report
1 August 2021
Now that was an interesting afternoon.
As much as they seemed to batter us on occasions in the field, it never felt completely out of control.
As hard as it was at times, I honestly thought our bowlers put in a really good shift, on what was a really flat, even paced track. Chloe, CB, Fred, Angus, Ollie and Scott bowled with real heart and discipline.
One of the things (there's lots) I love about you lot is you never give up, you never stop encouraging, you never stop smiling.
AJ played his 1st game, Ollie (15) played his 2nd game, Angus (17) played his 2nd game, George Freeman played his 1st game of the season, and it felt like they'd all been there forever, the way they all fitted and in and contributed to the team.
On top of that we lost our talisman T to the 3's and Beth to casualty.
274 was a bloomin good score, and when their opener finishes on 150 not out, you sense it's going to be a tough ask.
Walking off at the interval, Keith said "Your screwed today, skip," I wasn't so sure, he hadn't seen Angus (70 odd) or George (50 odd) before and there 100 opening stand that kept up with the run rate was a wonderful platform.
Then came Harry (125no), oozing class and confidence, well supported by Scott, then AJ, then Chloe, to help get us over the line.
Big thank you to all of the various supporters and to Andy Linnett for helping Beth in her hour of need and then fielding.
And then to top it off Keith pops in to the RUH to check in on Beth on the way home.
Best day of the week?
I reckon. ❤❤❤
